Biography

Dr. Benjamin A. Abugri is a Professor of Finance in the School of Business at Southern Connecticut State University. He has a Ph.D. in International Business with a major in Finance and an MBA, both from the College of Business at the University of Texas – Rio Grande Valley (Formally UT-Pan America). He also earned a Master of Philosophy degree from the University of Trondheim, Norway (now Norwegian University of Science and Technology) and a B.A. (Honors) degree from the University of Ghana. He teaches Financial Management, Investments, International Finance and Risk Management courses at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. He is an inaugural fellow of the Business Higher Education Forum and an inductee of the Beta Gamma Sigma - https://www.betagammasigma.org/home.


Dr. Abugri’s research has appeared in many scholarly journals including the International Review of Economics and Finance, Journal of Risk and Financial Management, Journal of International Financial Markets Institutions and Money, International Review of Financial Analysis, Journal of Economics and Finance, Journal of Policy Modeling, Managerial Finance, Review of Pacific Basin Financial Markets and Policies, and abstracted in the Chartered Financial Analyst Digest. His publications have also been listed among Elsevier’s ScienceDirect Top 25 Hottest Articles.

In addition to his teaching and research, Dr. Abugri provides training to staff of various financial institutions on Risk Management and the Basel Capital Accords as outlined by the Bank for International Settlements (BIS). He has previously worked with the Central Bank of Ghana as well as the Ministry of Finance and Economic Planning in Ghana.
